Dear Brides and Grooms,
I’m excited to let you know about a wonderful way to share a part your big day with those who would REALLY appreciate it. After your wedding, instead of throwing out your floral arrangements or begging your guests to take them home, I will deliver them to the nearest hospital or nursing home. This would be an easy way to do something special as you start your new life together. Picture the huge smiles on the faces of patients and staff members that will enjoy your beautiful flowers for several days after your wedding.
This is a FREE program for everyone involved. All we need is your permission!
How to get involved:
- Email or call me and say you’d like to donate your flowers
- Tell your florist that you would like keep all your floral arrangements.
- Ideally they would include the vases. They may charge you for this. Ask them.
- I will select a hospital or assisted living facility and make arrangements to deliver the flowers after the wedding.
- After the wedding, I will round up all arrangements and load them into my car.
The staff at the facility will distribute the flowers to those most in need the next morning. Our first wedding with the program was on June 27th, 2008 at the Westin Hotel in Itasca. The bride and groom donated 27 floral arrangements to the Lexington Assisted Living Facility. As of Mid-July, our couples have donated over 200 arrangements!
Here’s a quote from the letter I got back from the Delnor Hospital where we donated flowers after a wedding on July 6th:
“On Behalf of all our patients and staff here at Delnor Hospital, our great appreciation goes out to you, the bride and groom, for the incredible thoughtful donation of wedding flowers for our patients! One patient had celebrated her 89th birthday and she and her family were very pleased to be presented with a beautiful bouquet in honor of her birthday, especially when it came from a wonderful kind gesture and blessed by a celebration of Love.”
